Founded in 2018, our purpose has always been the same: to give the world's best adventure and conservation stories a home on African soil, and to celebrate the adventurers, explorers, filmmakers and storytellers who tell them.

Who We Are

What started as a grassroots Cape Town event has grown, year on year, into South Africa's premier adventure film platform.

Showcasing films of wild adventures and expeditions, to intimate stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

At the heart of it is a belief that how we see the world shapes how we treat it.

What We Look For

As an African festival, we're naturally drawn to films that sit with the complexity of landscapes and communities.

Africa is home to some of the most celebrated, yet most threatened ecosystems and species on the planet, and if your film carries that weight, we want to see it.

Our Responsibility

We take our responsibility to South Africa's own adventure film industry seriously: by programming local films alongside the world's best, we give our filmmakers access to the highest global standards, and the inspiration to reach them - what we call our top-down, bottom-up approach.

The 2027 Festival spans 16 days across 5 venues and includes speaker sessions, demos, outdoor activities and social functions.

Meet The Team

Andrew King

Festival Director

Award-winning adventure filmmaker and director with over a decade of experience producing high-quality adventure, conservation and lifestyle content. Founder of CTAFF, Andrew has built the festival from a grassroots Cape Town event into South Africa's premier adventure film platform - entirely through programming quality, community trust and creative conviction.

Jerome Maas
